UBC will name it’s fifteenth president this morning.
It comes as interim president Martha Piper’s ten month term ends, and after the abrupt resignation of Arvind Gupta.
Gupta quit the post last August, just a year into a five-year term, kicking off controversy on campus.
The university recently released its first draft of a sexual assault policy after administration faced criticism of handling complaints made by students.
Several media reports in Vancouver and Cincinnati say the new President is expected to be Santa Ono, who was appointed President of the Unversity of Cincinnati in 2012.
He was born in Vancouver where he father did a short stint as a mathematics professor at UBC in the early 1960’s.
