In the wake of Sunday’s horrific mass shooting in Orlando that left 49 LGBTQ clubgoers dead, B.C. is honouring the victims by lowering flags and lighting local landmarks.
The Cities of Vancouver and Victoria, along with the BC Legislature are flying the pride rainbow at half mast today, and Vancouver will be lighting city hall with rainbow colours.
Port Coquitlam City Hall has also joined in, lighting its city hall with rainbows.
And around the region, landmarks are being lit to show solidarity in the wake of the tragedy.
Last night, hundreds packed the square at the Vancouver Art Gallery to honour the dead, share their sadness, and show their solidarity in the face of what’s being called the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
