People will soon be able to run, bike, and walk along the new Arbutus rail corridor greenway.
Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson says the rail tracks are being ripped up closest to Granville Island with crews working their way South.
“We will follow along shortly thereafter with asphalt to create a temporary pathway on the Arbutus greenway as the rail and ties are taken out by CP’s contractor. Our expectation is we’ll be allowing people to use the corridor as the construction is going for recreation.”
As for gardens lost during the dispute with CP Rail Robertson says people shouldn’t just set them back up but rather approach the city first.
He says consultations with the community continue over what the final greenway will look like.
