Vancouver’s mayor is in Ottawa urging the federal government to take a broader look at greenhouse gas emissions when making a decision on the proposed Kinder Morgan TransMountain pipeline expansion later this year.
Gregor Robertson, joined by representatives of Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Musqueam Nations, told reporters on Parliament Hill that the feds should consider downstream emissions when assessing its environmental impact.

“This pipeline proposal is not worth to risk. We will be solid on this on the West Coast in the months to come, looking for the federal government to express a definitive “no” on the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline.”
Last month the National Energy Board gave the project the thumbs up, subject to 157 conditions.
