It’s been a chaotic morning on the Grouse Grind, with three separate rescues on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster already.
District of North Vancouver Fire’s Brian Hutchinson says the triple rescue was fluke timing, and involved one man with chest pains, a woman with an unknown medical condition, and a third patient needing to be carried of on a stretcher.
That said, Hutchinson says hikers planning to tackle the steep terrain need to be more careful.
“I do think it’s underestimated. It’s not an easy trail to hike, and people should certainly be aware of their limits before heading out on any of the local trails and be prepared. That’s really the key.”
Hutchinson says the important thing for hikers to remember is to stay hydrated at all times.
