“He was taken to local hospital and treated for his injuries. It appears they’re not serious at this time”.
That’s RCMP Inspector Bruce Anderson, talking about a Mountie whose unmarked police cruiser was struck late Wednesday night on Highway 1, near the Gaglardi exit in Burnaby.
Anderson says the officer had pulled over a vehicle at 11:40pm.
“While conducting the stop, he was in his vehicle completing some paperwork, when a second vehicle came along the highway and side-swiped/rear-ended the police vehicle.”
The driver of that second car that was disabled fled on foot, and since that time has been taken into custody.
The Mountie was treated in hospital and later released with minor injuries.
