Abbotsford Police evacuated a hotel this morning after reports of a single shot being fired inside a room.
Constable Ian MacDonald says a someone called 911 after hearing a gunshot in the room next door at a hotel in the 1800-block of Sumas Way.
“When we arrived on scene we did not discover anyone injured. The bad news is we will confirm that there was one shot fired in a ground level suite at that location. We are in the earliest stages of investigation but obviously one of the things we are looking at is the last person or persons who rented that suite.”
MacDonald says at this point police are just trying to put the pieces together starting with finding the person or persons who had rented the room.
He says this marks about a half dozen shots fired calls in Abbotsford this year.
To compare, Surrey is at 40 and counting.
