Vancouver’s first licensed marijuana dispensary will open its doors for the first time next week.
“The Wealth Shop” located at 4545 West 10th Avenue in Point Grey, was granted the first coveted pot shop business license in Vancouver earlier this week and will officially open on Tuesday.
Company representative Kei Baritugo says the shop will provide various dried cannabis strains, marijuana by-products as well as books and clothing.
So how does one become a member?
“A major requirement from the City of Vancouver is for aspiring members to complete a medical application signed by a healthcare practitioner. As well there needs to be proof of diagnosis.”
Baritugo says the shop will offer various strains of dried marijuana as well as other cannabis by-products.
“The Wealth Shop will be offering a large selection of all kinds of alternative health and wellness products. They are also going to be connecting their clients with healthcare professionals.”
Nine other pot shops have been granted development permits but there are still at least sixty operating illegally in the city.
30 other pot shops have shut down since bylaw officers began handing out fines.
61 are still operating illegally and almost 140 tickets have been issued at $250 each.
