Vancity is out with a new survey that finds 68% of millennials have considered leaving Metro Vancouver because of high housing costs.
93% say home ownership is unaffordable, while 66% say rent in the region is not affordable.
But 83% of millennials expect to still be living here in five years.
Giving up a lot
That’s due in part to the trade-offs they’re willing to make, including continuing to live with their parents. Other sacrifices include eating out less, not owning a car, postponing advanced education, and starting a family later.
More and more Millennials still living at home
The survey, conducted by the Mustel Group, found 61% of 18-to-24-year-olds still live at home, and 23% of 25-to-35 year-olds also live with their parents.
