A new flare-up in the Beatton Airport Road fire north of Fort St. John has prompted officials with the Peace Region Regional District to issue both a new evacuation order and evacuation alert.
The move means 130 families will be forced to leave their homes, while a further 95 must be ready to leave on a moment’s notice.
An Emergency Social Services centre has been set up at the North Peace Arena in Fort St. John to accommodate the evacuees.

It’s been a stressful time for residents in the area, who have already faced one evacuation order this month, which was downgraded to an alert last weekend.
The 15,000 hectare fire about 45 km north of Fort St. John has been burning since last month, and the BC Wildfire Service says it grew north by 300 more hectares today.
It says the fire is expected to grow yet again tomorrow, with extremely dry conditions and wind gusts of up to 60 km/h predicted.
