The City of Vancouver has handed out nearly $20,000 dollars in fines to unlicensed pot shops.
Bylaw inspectors have been busy, handing out 79 violation tickets worth $250 bucks each to pot shops that continue to operate in Vancouver illegally.
The city says there are now 62 stores that are subject to enforcement.
Since the April 29th deadline, 28 medical marijuana stores have closed their doors.
10 development permits have been issued, but a coveted business license has yet to be granted.
Vancouver became the first city in Canada to regulate the explosion of marijuana dispensaries.
Staff have threatened fines and court injunctions against those who refuse to comply with the rules.
