The Alberta Premier’s office says there was no role to play for the Martin Mars water bomber in fighting the big Fort McMurray wildfire.
While Rachel Notley’s office notes the water bomber has been used in the past currently its not possible to use the only large lake to grab the water it needs.
It also notes for safety there are limits on the number of aircraft jamming the skies to fight the fire.
This is in response to B.C.-based Martin Mars owner Wayne Coulson taking to Facebook to say his water bomber is sitting idle, because no provincial government is interested in its services.
He says they are now looking for another business or home for the aircraft.
