How far would you go to nab a condo in a hot market?
53 prospective buyers have pitched a tent outside the Yorkson Creek project at 208 Street and 82 Avenue in Langley.
Sales Manager and Realtor Amy Ellis says most buyers are 57-plus.
She says they’ve taken advantage of the market and sold their homes for a profit before downsizing.
“So that’s why I believe that they are willing to line up for so long. They need one level large condos. They can’t find them anywhere else and they don’t want to leave the area that they are in. Being just south of Walnut Grove, this where they want to be.”

Some are even hiring students through Craigslist to wait in line for them.
“They have sold their houses already, most of them in the Walnut Grove area, they’ve cashed out, made a lot more money than they thought they would but wanted to take advantage of this market. Now a lot of them are going to have to go into rentals, and since this is our last phase, they need to buy in here.”
Ellis says the most popular unit appears to be a 1600 square foot 3-bedroom and den condo for around half a million dollars.
128 units are up for grabs.
