Some scary moments for Coquitlam residents as Douglas College, Pinetree Secondary & Pinetree Community were all placed under lockdown this afternoon after reports of a man in the area with a gun.
Coquitlam RCMP Cst. Jamie Phillipson described the 9-11 call.
“A witness called in and stated that they saw a male walking down the street with a duffle bag that appeared to have a gun sticking out of it.”

Police now say the report appears to be unfounded, and the lockdown has been lifted.
The Mayor of Coquitlam, Richard Stewart, says Douglas College is offering assistance to students dealing with the stress of the incident.
A “Hold and secure” is implemented when there is a threat or incident near, but not on the property of a school. Activity continues as normal within the facility, but the doors are locked and no one is permitted in or out.
