An update on yesterday’s alleged sexual assault case near UBC.
RCMP Sgt. Annie Linteau delivered the news this morning.
“We can now confirm charges have been laid into that incident.”
Two men are named in the charges.
28-year-old David Singh Tucker is charged with Break and Enter, three counts each for sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, robbery, and one count of robbery and wearing a Mask with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence.
And Yuan Zi Gao of Vancouver faces one count of Break and Enter to Commit Robbery.
Police can confirm that the victims and suspects were not known to each other.
Mounties originally responded to a call just after 2 am on Birney Avenue near Westbrooke Mall on the university grounds, to a report of a break and enter.
Linteau says it’s too early to tell if the incident is related to a handful of prowler incidents on campus since March.
“Our investigators will be looking at whether or not this latest incident is linked to previous areas of suspicious incidents and sexual assaults that have occurred on campus.”
She could not clarify the exact nature of the incident, if the victims were attacked inside their homes, how many victims were involved, or if any of the suspects or victims were students at UBC.
