The Chief of the Victoria Police, already under investigation, is facing new allegations of misconduct.
The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner says Frank Elsner is accused of deceit and two counts of discreditable conduct.
Elsner is already under investigation regarding allegations he sent inappropriate Twitter messages to another officer’s wife.
He is alleged to have tried to influence witnesses, convince them to destroy evidence, and attempting to access police server to delete emails pertinent to the investigation.
RCMP Chief Superintendent Sean Bourrie, along with VPD officers, have been appointed to investigate.
And retired judge Ian H Pitfield will take care of any discipline.
Elsner is already under investigation for five allegations of breach of trust after sending inappropriate messages to the wife of an officer in his command.
He has so far refused to step down and has launched a court fight to quash the first investigation.
