“We are absolutely overwhelmed, first of all, with all of you and what you’ve done to arrange this in just a week.”
An overwhelming response from the public Friday as CKNW and Global BC wrapped up Feed Me Friday.
Executive Director of the Surrey Food Bank Marilyn Hermann was filled with emotion over how much was raised.
Children and their parents from Surrey and other cities came together to donate an abundance of food and money.
“The final number we have on site is 58 thousand dollars….I’m just so thrilled. And over nine thousand pounds of food and that nine thousand pounds of food actually equates to about 21 thousand dollars worth of food.”
CKNW and Global responded after the Surrey food bank said in a local article it was struggling to feed its members because of high food prices and new refugee clients.
Hermann says the $58,000 raised does not include online donations.
