It’s a very “sweet” way to make a living. Steve Hodge, Chocolatier and Chef at Temper Pastry, joined Lynda Steele in studio to talk about his dream job – surrounded by chocolate.
Hodge says it was actually a romantic relationship that got him involved in the chocolate world.
“It was actually a girl, we used to cook and she said, ‘Oh you should be a chef.’ This girl was kind of the first love of my life, so anything she said I did…I thought about it and went back to school to become a savory chef, and it was in culinary school where I was challenged by a chef on the dessert side of things.”
He says from there he went into chocolate, and hasn’t looked back since.
“My passion comes from my sports background…you know that motivation to strive to get better. There’s always room to learn, you can never stop learning.”
Hodge says most of his motivation now comes from his family.
“I have two daughters, and to let them see me love what I do…it feeds off to them for when they grow up…and they find out what they love to do. That passion just continuously drives.”
