Delta Police are concerned a targeted shooting early this morning “could” be the renewal of a conflict involving gangsters from Surrey.
Police were called to 117th street near 76th avenue, where the found a home and a car that had been shot up.
Delta PD Sergeant Sarah Swallow says police are investigating to see if a turf war last year between Surrey and Delta thugs, is now starting over again.
“We had the conflict last year that was seen in both communities and we’ve been watching very closely and we’ll be following up with all investigate leads to see if these are related.”
That turf war saw 19 brazen shootings in Surrey and North Delta over six weeks.
Swallow says its concerning that violence seems to be seeping across the municipal border again.
“It seemed like last year was the sort of what was described as the low level drug dealers and ya know unfortunately this type of thing it knows no jurisdictional boundaries.”
She adds the Delta Police are now coordinating with their counterparts.
“It’s obviously something we’ll be liaising very closely with Surrey with and uh ya know dealing with their investigators on ya know, we had the conflict last year that was seen in both communities.”
No one was hurt but police located a suspect vehicle and arrested two men.
