B.C. Olympic speed skater Denny Morrison is in a U.S. hospital recovering from a stroke.
The Fort St. John native suffered the stroke last night.
A statement from Speed Skating Canada says Jodie Spence, a member of the long-track national team, was travelling with him and noticed signs in the afternoon.
She immediately drove him to hospital.

In the statement, Morrison says doctors told him he recovered quickly because of good health and he thanks everyone for their messages of support.
Just before the incident Morrison completed a month long 1,200 km bike tour in Arizona and was spending some free time in Salt Lake City.
Following a motorcycle accident 11 months ago that almost ended his speed skating career, the four-time Olympic medalist still managed to race at the Olympic Oval in Calgary this past March.
