With yet another high-profile RCMP disciplinary hearing on hold indefinitely, questions are being raised about how closely policy is being followed for those officers collecting a paycheque while sitting at home.
Corporal Jim Brown’s upcoming disciplinary hearing has been adjourned indefinitely – four years after the officer was seen in bondage photos wearing his RCMP-issued boots.
Brown has been collecting a paycheque this whole time.
But RCMP won’t say whether the Coquitlam officer is checking in daily to the detachment, as required by RCMP policy.
It turns out, much of that policy is at the discretion of a commanding officer.
CKNW has learned some officers on paid suspension are forced to do the check-in daily, and sometimes twice a day. Others only need to stop by the closest detachment every week.
