Families in northern B.C. are being forced out of their homes tonight because of several wildfires in the Baldonnel area near Fort St. John.
Fort St. John RCMP Constable Joshua Zwambag says crews are prioritizing a few.
The number of people who have been evacuated is not yet known but Prince George Fire confirms at least two homes and a few families have been asked to leave their homes.
“People have been evacuated to the nearby Taylor community Centre as our emergency centre there. So, we have people in place there to assist with medical needs.”
Zwambag says a blueberry farm is also being cleared out and crews are battling a fire on Highway 29 near Hudson’s Hope.
Evacuation Alerts have been issued for:
- North of the junction of 238 Road and 245 Road
- Easterly to just east of the 241 Road
- North to the 242 Road
- South along the 245 Road to just north of the junction of the 238 Road and 245 Road.
Drive BC says Highway 29 is closed from Bear Flats to 2km north of Halfway River Bridge.
