Surrey’s top cop has made a bold promise, saying the RCMP will stop the violence in the city.
“I can tell you, we will stop this conflict but I’m worried about the conflict next year and the year after that and the year after that, to me the answer is the long term solution of education and engagement.”
Bill Fordy has addressed a packed Surrey Board of Trade luncheon, saying recent gun violence is his detachment’s top priority.
While not going into detail, Fordy says the RCMP are making headway as they investigate the shootings and says there’s a better plan in place this eyar than last for dealing with the gun violence.
Fordy also says in the long term, the police can’t arrest their way out of this, but rather he says through education the shootings will end.
He’s urging parents to talk to their kids, especially their young men about the vlaue of hard work and the failings of the gang lifestyle.
