Could a strike by Metro Vancouver bus drivers be far off?
Contract talks between Coast Mountain Bus Company and it’s drivers don’t appear to be going well.
Coast Mountain Bus Company and it’s unionized drivers are said to be ‘far apart’ as the two sides try to hammer out a new contract.
A leaked internal memo from Unifor Local 1-11 to it’s members says “unfortunately it quickly became apparent that the Company and the Union were far apart on what a fair agreement would look like.”
The union says what’s on the bargaining table right now will “negatively affect our members’ working conditions and compensation.”
As a result, the union memo goes on to say “a unanimous decision has been made to reject the Company’s position and solidify the support of our members over the next few weeks.”
