In a news conference that seemed longer than the season itself the management of the Vancouver Canucks pleaded for patience from fans as the team re-tools.
Canucks President Trevor Linden says the GM and head coach are staying put and he is very happy with both of them.
As for the future of players like Dan Hamhuis and Alex Burrows? Linden said time will tell.
“We knew that eventually we were going to get younger and this was the year that it took shape and we are going to continue to go down that path. The notion of just gutting our team is not the direction we can go. We need our young players to have some support. The Jannick Hansens, the Chris Tanevs, and the Alex Edlers, Daniel and Henrik, you know Alex Burrows. We need players to support our young players we just can’t bring in a bunch of young players and throw them to the wolves.”
Linden says this is an unfamiliar but exciting time for the team and the fans will see a pay off.
