After multiple consultations, there are now some opinions from people in Richmond on whether or not to go to a local policing model.
Surveys say: keep the RCMP.
While people like the idea of a local policing force, potential costs related to change – plus the current satisfaction levels – are enough to keep Mounties in the role.
The report, presented by Richmond city staff, does note there were a number of people in the surveys who selected ‘undecided.’
Those numbers are enough to recommend at least another go-around of surveys.
The report will be presented this afternoon at a special council meeting.
Residents were polled online and in person at community meetings.
