It was an ugly loss for a Vancouver Whitecaps (2-3-1) squad missing key players during their trip to RFK stadium to play a winless D.C. United (1-2-3) team.
United were riding a six game losing streak that dates back to last season.
That until Fabian Espindola and Alvaro Saborio had two goals apiece for United, in a 4-0 win over Vancouver on Saturday.
Espindola broke down the Whitecaps for the first time in the 38th minute and then scored in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.

Espindola replacement Saborio came on just before the 80 minute mark and quickly added two more goals, for United.
Next up for Whitecaps FC is a visit to Real Salt Lake next Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium
