This next Dream Job segment is for anyone who ever sang into their hairbrush as a child, imagining being in front of thousands of screaming fans.
As part of Putting BC To Work 2016, local celebrity Bif Naked joined Lynda in studio to spill some secrets on what being a Rock Star is really like.
“I accidentally got my job when I was in University, because my boyfriend’s singer quit the band…and they needed a singer, and basically that’s how I started.”
Bif says until she started her music career, she wanted to be a ballerina, or a theater actor. And while there are some “un-glamorous” moments to being a Rock Star (“I try so hard to hit the right notes most of the time, and not look sweaty, that I don’t even notice [the crowd].”) she’s says she’s thankful for her career.
“You can’t complain. To be able to basically write poetry, and then put music to it, and then go out and perform that in front of people…and make rent doing that, that is a miracle job, not just a dream job.”
She says she plans on being a singer for as long as she can.
“I used to think, ‘Oh, what am I going to do when I get older?’ But then I look at Tina Turner and I go, ‘Forget about it! You can do anything you want to as long as you want in this day and age.’ As long as you stay healthy, and keep laughing, you can do anything.”
