The BC Wildfire Service are battling a pair of fires which were sparked over the course of the weekend.
Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcot says the blaze burning near Quesnel saw some growth, but is now 30% contained.
“The fire is currently mapped at 398 hectares. There are currently 45 firefighting personnel on site working to contain the fire as well as 20 more en route today. Additionally, one helicopter, five bulldozers, and one water truck are on the site of the fire.”
Turcot says it’s still unclear what caused the fire.
However, a new blaze was spotted yesterday near Cawston and is believed to be human-caused.
Turcot says that fire is mapped at 16 hectares but should be contained by the end of the day.
