The federal government has made yet another transit funding announcement that was big on dollars but short on where the money is going.
$460-million for BC, with where it’s going is still up in the air.
North Vancouver MP Jonathan Wilkenson says that’s up to the provinces and municipalities.
“That will all be very public, but $460-million you can do the back of the envelope. I think it’s a pretty healthy number for British Columbia, relative to the total size of 3.4 billion.”
During the federal election campaign the Liberals promised to act on extending the rapid transit line in Surrey.
Robertson wants rapid transit line on Broadway
Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson is pleased to see the feds making another transit funding announcement.
He says it proves the federal government is committed to investing in transit in Metro Vancouver.
“We’re looking forward to taking those next steps urgently to land all the federal and provincial funding and get our ten year plan underway investing in more rapid transit.”
Robertson wants to see a rapid transit line built along Broadway.
“Transit continues to be a top priority right now, given the federal commitment.”
