This month’s book is The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald. It’s a cute story about a woman named Sara who has never left her home of Sweden but loves to live inside the worlds of the books she reads. She ends up going to visit a friend in Broken Wheel, Iowa and that is where the story really begins not just for the reader for for Sara as well.
I used the word “cute” because that’s the best way I can describe this story. It was definitely light reading, something fun, but as I was reading it I got the sense that I had read this story before. It seemed kind of familiar. There is never any real doubt about what happens to Sara or how the book ends but it’s a nice, sweet ride without any bumps to get there.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend is the kind of book I would tell someone to read if they are in need of something to get them back into a reading habit. We all have lulls every once in a while, where we have trouble getting in to a book. This kind of easy to read, sentimental story would be just the thing to jump start a reading habit again.
