The City of Vancouver is moving forward with a new mixed-use building in South Vancouver’s Punjabi Market neighbourhood.
There will be 75 new rental units in the area of Main Street and 49th Avenue.
In a statement, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says the new building will help with revitalization, and bring more families to the area.
However, only 5 of the 75-units will have three bedrooms, which many families with two or more children require.
- 69,000-square-foot, six storey building
- 11 studio units
- 35 one bedroom units
- 24 two bedroom units
- five three bedroom units
The rental vacancy rate in the neighbourhood is currently at less than 1%.
