The identity of a woman found killed in Mission last month has been revealed in an obituary posted in an Illinois newspaper by her mother.
The obituary says 28-year-old Victoria Norma Heppner passed away in Mission last month.
She leaves behind an eight-year-old boy, her parents, a brother, and two sisters in B.C., Alberta, and Illinois.
Police have not released the woman’s identity after a body was found on a forest service road near Stave Lake.
Charged with second degree murder, and an indignity to a human body is 29-year-old Ryan Jack Armstrong.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which is looking into the case, says it was a targeted killing, and the two knew each other.
Mounties in Alberta are investigating after about $24,000 went missing from a crowdfunding campaign run by Heppner for the widow and children of a trucker who died last July.
