The Metro Vancouver Board has made it official: it will ask the federal government to step in on the plan to replace the Massey tunnel with a bridge.
Chair Greg Moore says they have joined Richmond in asking for a federal environmental review of the bridge.
“So we do have a letter to send off to the Federal Minister of Environment, asking them to do an Environmental Assessment review of it. We’ll see where that goes. At the same time, the Metro Vancouver – we asked for a two-month delay, we haven’t heard back from the Provincial Government on that yet, but that’s not stopping us from still doing the work.”
Delta mayor opposed to federal review
Delta Mayor Lois Jackson voted against the motion calling the need for a federal review a “myth”.
