Stephanie Cadieux says new processes are already being implemented in her ministry.
“My heart goes out to the family, to the parents, who suffered a very tragic loss. I can’t imagine their anguish. What I can say about the situation is that a review was done after this tragedy and the statutory officers responsible have received that review, accepted the recommendations, and are in the process of now implementing the results of that review.”
Cadieux says she takes every tragic death of children in government care personally saying it takes an emotional toll on her.
“I take them very seriously. I can tell you every morning when I get up and pick up my phone I dread what might come across my email. It is impossible not to be emotionally effected when something tragic like this happens.”

His parents say big improvements are needed including having parents play a role in helping their children deal with addiction and substance abuse.
