Seven people are dead following a small plane crash in Quebec.
Former Liberal cabinet minister Jean Lapierre, his wife and several relatives are among the dead.
The plane crashed today on the way to eastern Quebec following the death of Lapierre’s father.
Lapierre was first elected to the Commons in 1979 and in 2004, then-prime minister Paul Martin named him transport minister.
He was also a big-name broadcaster and political journalist in Quebec.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent a team of investigators to the scene.
