Though the game was played on home soil, Canada came into the contest the underdog.
Mexico entered the night ranked 22nd by FIFA, while Canada was 87th.
Ultimately Mexico reigned supreme with a commanding 3-0 victory.
The two teams will meet again in Mexico on Tuesday.
