Following Tuesday’s federal budget announcement, Metro Mayors met in Vancouver with Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi to discuss the future of Metro Vancouver.
Vancouver’s Mayor, Gregor Robertson, says the meeting went very well and that their main focus was on the long-term transit funding plan.
“It was a very positive meeting actually, I think the concerns were all how quickly can we get to the long-term plan and funding our Mayor’s 10-year plan for the region.”
He says the Mayor’s plan focuses on transit investment as one region rather than by individual cities.
“Looking at the next steps on the long-term plan and how we can land all of the federal and provincial funding for our 10-years transit plan; the Mayors plan that will see comprehensive investment in transit across the region”
Robertson says the federal government is excited about their strategy that move on from having to choose some projects over others.
