It cost $1.2-billion to build, and was only completed less than two years ago, but already the South Fraser Perimeter Road that runs through Surrey and Delta needs repairs.
The Transportation Ministry says data collection continues on ways to fix what it calls the highway’s ‘settlement’ or sinking.
“What we’re wanting to do now is to address the issue of the uneven pavement that has arisen in that area.”
Several options are on table for a long term solution according to the Ministry’s Kirsten Pedersen…
“We expect to have a preferred solution identified by the concessionaire by the end of April.”
Pedersen says one of the options could be raising the grade of the road to even out the highway, especially in the area just east of 136th Street where there’s a significant bump.
