Vigils are being held across the country tomorrow for the children of a Comox woman, alleged to have been kidnapped by their father and taken to the Middle East.
Alison Azer hasn’t seen her four kids since August, when they left on what was meant to be a short trip to Europe with their father.
She believes instead that her ex-husband Saren Azer, a well known Vancouver Island doctor, abducted them and fled to the Kurdish region of Iraq.
Saren is now wanted on a Canada wide warrant, and he is also wanted by Interpol.
Ms. Azer went to Kurdistan in January in a bid to track the children down.
While she located the kids, she says her ex-unwillingness to comply with international law and resistance from local leaders meant she returned empty handed.
She now believes the children are in a rebel held war zone.
“Bombs are falling,” she writes on a fundraising campaign to cover the mounting expenses of tracking the children. “I need to get my children home.”
Vigils are now set for Ottawa, Calgary, Victoria and Comox, in a bid to up the pressure to return the children to Canada.
