UPDATE: Vancouver Police, addressing media Monday after a violent weekend, say the fire appears to be arson.
Fire crews responded to a third alarm fire at the Villa Carital care facility in the 3000 block of Pentiction street, near South Grandview Highway.
Fire crews were dispatched shortly after 3:00am Sunday morning.
Around 85 residents were assessed after being evacuated as crews dealt with the blaze.
The British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) Emergency Response Plan was issued as seniors were displaced from the fire.
There were 21 ambulances sent to treat the seniors and keep them warm until some were allowed back inside.
Three people were taken to hospital for further treatment.
