Nanaimo RCMP are investigating an alarming discovery on a popular trail used by mountain bikers.
Last week, a woman found wire strung at neck level, and wooden jagged stakes in the ground on a logging road that accesses Barsby Lake.
Constable Gary O’Brien says the items could have caused serious injury to an unsuspecting biker.
Mounties are hoping it’s a one-time incident but are asking the public to help identify who may be responsible.
In January, 64-year-old Tineke Kraal was handed a suspended sentence and given three years’ probation for sabotaging a number of mountain bike trails on the North Shore.
