Premier Christy Clark is trying to take the high road on cutting emissions by encouraging more drivers to go electric.
The announcement comes as the 2016 GLOBE Conference continues in Vancouver.
Premier Christy Clark says drivers of some electric cars can now use the HOV lane.
“We’re not gonna be subsidizing that. We’re gonna redirect those subsidies to people with less expensive cars, and we think the best incentive, though, will be to use the HOV lane.”
Clark says B.C. has the most electric charging stations in the country per capita.
The changes come into effect immediately.
