The Vancouver Police Department is focusing on the top 10 scams of the year.
Among these scams are investment fraud, cat-fishing, and fake relative emergency traps.
Not all scams are reported but President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau, Danielle Primrose says Canadian’s are becoming more skilled in spotting a scam.
“The good news is that Canadian’s lost less money in 2015, than they did in 2014. According to the Canadian anti-fraud center, just over 61 million was lost last year, that compares to over 70 million in 2014.”
Over 80 scams have been reported in BC in the last few months.
March is designated Fraud Prevention Month so if you fall victim to scam, call the Vancouver Police right away.
