Up until now the idea of a robot taking my job, or most jobs done by a human person, has seemed a little ridiculous.
I mean look at these idiots.
But things are getting a bit more serious with Atlas from Boston Dynamics.
I mean look at the way Atlas handles uneven terrain.
And I’m pretty sure I used to get paid $10 an hour to do exactly this.
What all this means is that if a robot can accomplish menial tasks reliably, without being plugged in and with a concern that if it falls it won’t be able to get back up, well that is a game changer.
Atlas is not a new robot, Boston Dynamics created Atlas years ago, but what they are highlighting now is it’s ability to traverse uneven terrain (even if it does look like your uncle after a few too many) and that it no longer needs to be plugged in.
