Do you ever find yourself signing up at the gym or making plans to go to yoga and then never go?
According to Sheila Hamilton from Its! Time Fitness Results people then turn their attention to other things.
“You make something else a priority other then yourself.”
“This brings up such a huge issue why you want to do or why you don’t allow yourself to do things, think things, what’s going on inside your head, that mental attitude, that mindset piece is something I’m personally getting more interested in. People can eat well and they can motivate themselves to exercise and yet its that what’s going on inside that voice inside their head, if it’s not positive, we’re now seeing that can have a big impact on your health.”
Does guilt play a factor?
Hamilton says you shouldn’t always feel guilty.
“It seems that way, but it’s not true. We have so many other things pulling at our time right now so when it comes down to it the thing that’s going to make you feel better is the exercise, and the nutrition piece, and the mindset piece. So we can’t look at one of these things exclusively, they all influence each other.”
Hamilton also says people don’t always take the time to properly examine what they want goal wise and why they want to lose weight, feel better about themselves, have a better mental attitude. She says it isn’t just going to happen unless you explore what you really want.

Goal setting can help if you are realistic
Hamilton says you can have goals but says you also have to be real about those goals.
“Goal setting can help. As long as you keep the goals realistic. You shouldn’t have a unachievable goal. You’ll set yourself up for failure.”
Keep an open mind
Hamilton has been doing more studying on the subject and found positivity is the best bet.
“One of the things is, if you’re thinking things in your own mind, are they healthy things? Are they open and nourishing thoughts that are going to lead you in a positive direction or are they limiting and toxic thoughts. Maybe you started your day off with limiting thoughts about food but are you going to let the rest of the day fall apart because you ate food you weren’t supposed to eat. I’m not feeling very motivated to eat well tomorrow, I’ll start again next week where you could turn it around and say ‘I have the power in me to make a better food choice for my next meal’.”
Weight is a big issue along with clothes
Hamilton says clothes are a big issue when it comes to people losing weight.
“I’ve had a big issue with clothes. You can go to any of the mainstream stores, and the sizing in my opinion is all wrong. It doesn’t help the mindset at all.”
Its all about decoding and change
Hamilton says to take inventory of those negative thoughts that come into your mind.
“Even just drawing awareness to that, so when the negative thought comes up, flip it to something more positive. Just change the mindset. Recognizing it and the moving on from there.”
Hamilton also reminds everyone not to take a all or nothing approach.
