There were some terrifying moments for a Surrey woman this evening — who fell into a ravine near 13th Avenue and King George Highway.
Assistant Surrey Fire Chief Chris Keon says the accident happened in dramatic fashion.
“From what I understand there was a deck on the back of a house that collapsed and a patient was on this deck and it collapsed into a ravine.”
Keon says the woman caught hold of a tree about halfway down the embankment — and escaped with only minor injuries.
“The ravine is about 50 feet deep. It is not a cliff by any means, it is a ravine. The patient slid down about 25 feet and was holding onto a tree.”
He says police and fire crews are on scene, along with a technical rope rescue team and an air ambulance, but that the victim is expected to be okay.
