If you’re heading out to the mountains in the Kootenay Boundary, the Purcells and in the North and South Columbia areas: take note.
Avalanche Canada has issued a Special Public Avalanche warning for backcountry users for today until Monday.
There are concerns, with new snow and high winds, that the layers underneath are unstable.
It also says it’s seen a number of close calls in the last few days.
The group says anyone heading out to the backcountry is reminded to wear an avalanche transceiver in transmit mode, and carry a probe, shovel, and other emergency needs with them.
