B.C. Building Trades is raising the alarm after a company contracted by B.C. Hydro to work on the Site-C Dam posted a job ad about temporary foreign workers.
Executive Director Tom Sigurdson says once the posting for a human resources posting looking for someone to find temporary foreign workers was spotted, it was quickly scrubbed.
Sigurdson says there are more than enough skilled British Columbians to cover all the Site-C jobs.
“I don’t think it was accidental that the advertisement went out looking for someone in human resources that would be able to look at the various programs – whether it be temporary foreign workers, or the provincial nominee program to fill some of those positions. Not at all necessary we have British Columbians ready to go to work.”
He says even though the ad was scrubbed his worry is Temporary Foreign Workers could still be hired under the radar.
