A missing snowshoer on Mount Strachan near Cypress has been found.
North Shore Rescue Team leader Mike Danks says the man was hiking alone when he went missing last night and police were unable to trace the man’s cell phone.
Danks says they will find out this morning from the man as to what exactly happened.
“We are not sure at this point if his cell phone died.”
North Shore Rescue called off their search at about 4am this morning because avalanche conditions were getting worse.
Danks says the man walked down by himself from with his dog, just before 8am.
“Both he and his dog are safe and sound.”
The 40-year-old called his wife from the summit of Strachan at around 5pm last night, saying he was going to be descending.
Danks says that’s the last time anyone heard from him.
But Danks does say the man took precautions and did a lot of things right.
“He did have proper gear, and let someone know where he was, and he had a trip plan.”
